ACS Electrical Installation
Technical execution at the highest level.
Electrical installation is where a design becomes reality: cables are laid, switchgear is set up, protection systems are connected and plants are energised for the first time. ACS does not see this step as simply building to drawings, but as a technical discipline in its own right – one that makes decisions on site, documents them and secures them.
Our approach
From site integration
to ongoing operation.
Every installation begins with site integration: our teams take over the engineering on site for the specific conditions there, because even the most careful design meets reality – existing structures, other trades' schedules, accessibility, weather. This is where it becomes clear whether a design can actually be installed, and this is exactly where our site teams step in directly instead of escalating problems back to the design office.
The installation itself is the largest visible part of electrical installation work: setting up and wiring control cabinets, distribution panels and switchgear, laying control and power cables over sometimes considerable distances – on a project such as the Eichstetten substation, more than 320 kilometres of cable across two GIS halls – as well as the electromechanical installation of both gas-insulated (GIS) and air-insulated switchgear (AIS). This work is accompanied throughout by installation supervision that checks quality and progress against the design and standards before any errors disappear into the structure.
Once the installation is mechanically complete, the commissioning phase follows. It starts with electrical and control system tests as well as loop checks, in which every signal path from the field level to the control room is measured and confirmed individually. At the same time, PLC and control system programming takes place directly on the real plant, where theoretical logic meets actual plant behaviour and is fine-tuned. Only when these tests are complete is the plant put under load – accompanied by commissioning supervision that ensures the transition from test operation to full load is controlled.
Beyond execution alone, electrical installation at ACS also covers site and project management for each construction site: scheduling with other trades, material logistics, coordination with grid operators or general contractors and – not least – the consistent implementation of HSE principles. On sites with high voltage, gas-insulated switchgear and often neighbouring plants still in operation, safety is not a formality but daily practice, actively enforced by our site managers.
The work does not necessarily end with the official handover: troubleshooting and optimisation during operation are also part of our services, for example when real-world operation reveals adjustments that no design could fully anticipate in advance.
This approach was used at the Eichstetten substation, among others, where ACS was responsible for the complete turnkey electromechanical installation including primary and secondary technology and the entire protection and control scope – and likewise at the IPH Süd substation in Frankfurt, where the manufacture, installation and commissioning of protection and control cabinets as well as AC/DC distribution panels for a critical data centre power supply came from a single source.
Our range of services
Everything from a single source.
Why ACS
We take responsibility for the result, not just the contract.
Complex projects need clear responsibilities: that is why we bundle project requirements and offer solutions from a single source. In-house control cabinet production with coordinated control and automation technology, plus the mechanical and electrical installation of industrial plants, form one continuous project process at ACS. This creates short paths and enables fast decisions.
From production to commissioning at full load, we take responsibility for what counts in the end: a working plant.

What we do
Three areas,
one seamless process.
-
Control cabinet construction
In our own production facility we build control cabinets up to 6000 A, low-voltage distribution panels, LV power panels, connection and terminal boxes as well as accessories for gas-insulated switchgear. Every assembly undergoes a documented factory acceptance test before it leaves our premises.
-
Control and automation technology
We design and program the control level of the plant – from the functional logic and PLC and control system programming to the SCADA and HMI interfaces that operators later use to run the plant.
-
GIS installation
Our teams handle the complete mechanical and electrical gas work, SF6 and SF6-free plants, AIS plants and STATCOM installation for gas-insulated switchgear on site – from setting up and aligning the enclosures to electrical wiring, testing and commissioning.
